Monitor for RTX3080TI setup

There IS a difference between 1440p and 4K even at 27". People that say there isn't just havent tried 4K yet.

Ill just add to this. While i agree broadly, there is a caveat.

When comparing a 1440p 27" monitor and a 4k 27", 1 very important aspect usually changes, and thats rendering resolution.

Plug a 1440p display into a PC and it will default to 1440p and only show resolutions up to 1440p unless u enable DSR

Similarly a 4k display will default to 4k and show resolutions up to 4k.

As such when your average Joe compares the 2 monitors, what they are actually doing when looking at the same game, is comparing rendering at 1440p to 2160p and not the monitor itself.

If u render the game on both displays at the same resolution, the difference between the displays is reduced significantly. be it choosing to render at 1440p on both, or at 4k on both using DSR on the 1440p display.

There is still a difference mind you.

There is still the technical limitation that a 1440p cannot render a 4K image correctly. Just as a 1440p image doesn't look as good on a 4K monitor than on a native 1440p monitor when you're talking about the same resolution. It just won't look as sharp, no matter what. When using DSR to display 4K on a 1440p monitor, the bottleneck still remains the monitor.

My general take is this: If you want to play at 1440p, get a 1440p monitor. If you want to play at 4K, get a 4K monitor.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
