I did it but after i set it to be static it wouldn't connect to the internet at all, so i set it back to dynamic. But I havent restarted my PC after port fowarding and ipconfig in CMD still says that its the same as the port fowarded ip.

We have an ASUS RT-AC88u router.

The server is plugged directly into the router via ethernet

Is your Asus router the only router on your network or do you also have an ISP provided modem router? You might have a double NAT which means you need to forward the port on your modem to your ASUS router and then from the ASUS router to the Minecraft server.

Connect the modem and Asus router lan-to-lan* and disable DHCP to remove the double NAT situation, if applicable.

*LAN-to-LAN means you put an ethernet cable from a LAN port on your modem router to a LAN port on the Asus, not the WAN port.

I’m setting up a MC for the first time (athlon x4 630 6gb ram 240gb HDD) and I have it up and running-I can connect from in the network. But even after I have port forwarded i can’t connect from another network with the public IP address or the internal IP address. I’m using windows 10. And an asus router. I think that the problem is with port forwarding but I really have no clue how to fix it. Thanks.

Did you set a static IP with windows?

If not, do that, then forward the port to that

Additional questions:

What Asus router is it?

Do you have a seperate system/thing in-between the server and the router?

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

To be clear it's not public IP address on "what is my IP" sites but public IP as in WAN address in the router. If that starts with either 10.x.x.x or is between 100.64.x.x and 100.127.x.x then that's a problem.
