It's Time to Disappear Cables

Plouffe

Can a sketchy company make a good product? We tried out PeakDo's wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver and the results might surprise you.

would be cool if tech like this could be build in to monnitors. what's the point of "wireless" HDMI when you need to have big ass dongles wired into both devices?

i get that dongles of some kind would be needed, but i was thinking more like USB flash drive sized.

Yeah from what i saw this is just for one device at a time so if you're running a triple monitor setup instead of cables you have dongles everywhere lmao

Can't you use Custom Resolution Utility to resolve the 120hz refresh issue?

I just had to update my monitor to allow Adaptive Sync to work at 280hz because even though ASUS lets you enable it, it doesn't actually change if you look at the Refresh Counter built on.

By using CRU, I was able to update the monitor itself to have 280hz instead of 279.xx and then the refresh range to 280hz (I also lowered the minimum refresh as a little bonus for Star Citizen, sue me).

It now works like a charm. Also sucks because ASUS support tried to pin the problem on AMD saying their max adaptive sync is 240hz.  It's definitely a lie but hey, I got mine working. Changing it NVIDIA software does very little compared to what CRU can do.

Own An HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite and the HTC VIVE Wireless adaptor which run on an intel Wigig w11100 pcie card  and use the 60 ghz  frequency and handle perfectly the 2880x1700 (or 1440x1700 per eye) @ 90hz the headset device and bluetooth device(base station , 2 controller and cellphone voice call) and work perfectly smooth , off course better then the Oculus Quest connected on Wifi for the latency

Whats the point? you'll still need a stupid power cable anyway

Using wireless can be in many case more convenient then using a wire.
-multiple device for a screen
-portable device
-VR device ,yup really usefull and 4 hours runtime with no latency, and cable free so I don<t fall due to my cable twisted
-flexibility , can move the screen without the cable mess and no need to buy new cable if cable lengh is too short for the new setup

Yeah, but if you have a projector installed on the opposite side of the room where your HTPC is (Which is where my stereo and TV is) this can be a heaven sent. I have an HDMI cable that is routed along the living room walls, under a door (it goes to the balcony so there is a little wall under it to prevent water from coming in) and up to the ceiling. It was super expensive and the signal really isn't great, it tends to black out once every once in a while for a few frames which is super annoying. (Plus it's already limited in what it can do because it's a couple years old)

I will certainly have a close look at this. Yes it's super expensive right now, but give is a little while and I might finally be able to replace the cable solution I have.

As for power, that was easy, that already was available at the wall, just needed to route it up to the projector. Sure, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense in most monitor solutions, but for projectors that could be really, really cool.
