Dual Monitors Noob Question

So I just setup my second monitor which is an old like 19" tv and it only accepts vga, and my gpu doesn't have vga, so I am running off integrated graphics on it. I have never used multiple monitors before and was wondering if someone could link me a guide on how you interact with the second monitor or explain to me some basic.

Oh I'm dumb... you just move your mouse over to the other screen.... derp.

EDIT: wait no, when I click on something on the other screen it displays it on my main monitor and just shows me my desktop background/taskbar on the other one?

Your GPU has a DVI-I connector... use it with an adapter and plug there your VGA screen...

but i just bought a new vga cable :{

How many time? Maybe you can return it ... or you can buy a DVI-VGA cable instead of the adapter if you don't like adapters

it works how I have it now though how do I just open a program on it though? when I click it it doesn't show the window on it.

If you select a window and press the windows key + shift + left or right arrow you can toss the window from one monitor to the other.
