I got this idea from talking about a 10Gb network with a few guys on this forum, my idea is to imagine what you "Dream" PC would be and then tell us, I thought it would be kinda cool so see different sides to the world of PC's without actually having to build them, don't get me wrong I love reading about peoples builds but this was just a spot for people to spec out and list what they would want there PC to be, it doesn't even have to be a gaming PC, it could be a Video editing rig, a file server, video capture PC, what ever pops into your head, I am just interested in seeing what guys would want, and people could just have a good time doing it, One thing though I want to see a PC that could be built with parts that are available today,

 

Just to get things started, I will list what I want, First a Gaming PC then a File Server, 

 

Gaming PC, 

 

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79

 

CPU: Intel i7 3960x

 

RAM: Corsair CMP32GX3M4X1600C10 x 2

 

SSD: Intel SSDSA2CW600G3K5 320 600GB x 8

 

Raid Controller: Adaptec 2270200-R 6445

 

Power Supply: Corsair AX1200i CP-9020008-NA x 2

 

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7970 x 2

 

NIC: Emulex OCE11102-NT

 

Case: Case Labs MAGNUM M8 Case with additional pieces

 

Also I would do a custom water cooling job on this system, I'm just to lazy to spec out that...

 

Total:  W/O Tax $13556.44 

           W TAX $15318.7772

(Canada, 13cents to the dollar)

For the File Server

 

Case: Norco RPC-4224 24

 

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LX Intel 7

 

RAM:Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9

 

CPU:Intel Core i5-3570K

 

Drives: Intel SSDSA2CW600G3K5 320 600GB x 12

            WD Red 3TB NAS Hard Drive x 12

 

Raid Controller: not yet determined.....

 

Power Supply: Corsair AX1200i CP-9020008-NA 

 

NIC: Emulex OCE11102-NT

 

Total: W/O Tax $16369.4

          W Tax $18497.422

Grand total:

So you can see that I have very high hopes... With that type of money I could buy a car... Oh well that is the point of this, to dream about what system you want,

So if you add all that total cost will be a bit over $10000 O_O

Mine is probably completely undoable unless you have unlimited money.

 

I would want basically all super computer parts and a server room like you see in movies. sorry i dont have specs but here is a more doable one

 

 

A custom ALL white motherboard from msi probably a mpower caliber board

 

a i7 extreme edition ivybridge E

 

custom water cooling

 

Nas of like 20 3 tb hdd

 

4 titans or 780s

 

Obsidian 900d white specialy made

 

128gb of 3000mhz ram

 

2000w psu.

 

total: ALOT

i5 3570 | MSI GD-65 Gaming | OCZ Vertex 60gb ssd | WD Green 1TB HDD | NZXT Phantom | TP-Link Wifi card | H100 | 5850

I forgot i'd probably buy individually sleeved cables.  Red to match everything.

Specs: Core I7-2600K @ 4.5GHz @ 1.35V, 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance Black 1600MHz CL9, Cooler Master Evo 212, MSI Z77 Mpower Motherboard, Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X @ 1000/1400, Cooler Master HAF 932 Blue Edition w/ 3 Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 120MM fans (2 up top 1 in the bottom) replaced side panel with a window, and rear fan with a Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 140MM, Cooler Master GX 650 80+ Bronze PSU, Samsung DVD-RW, Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD, Seagate 750GB SATA III 7200RPM
