Not a bad deal. The 980 Ti alone usually goes for more than half of the asking price.

Hi all,

So I'm looking to buy a computer for some video editing and some gaming. Don't want to spend a ton of money but also don't want to just cheap out.  Found a local seller and wanted to know in the current climate if it sounds like a good deal.

Ryzen 3600 w/h wraith cooler

2x8 balistic 3200mhz

EVGA 980 ti FTW

Asrock a320 - bios already updated

480 gb ssd

1 tb HD

800 watt psu

He's asking 600 usd for it. Thoughts?

Not too shabby if you ask me, especially with the current craziness of silicon shortage

Seems like a solid deal. Assuming you can understand how the specs work, check the chipset for upgradeablility to the 5000 series processors. Honestly you wont need more performance than the 3600 but anyway, its good to consider it while buying.

The graphics card will hold up in esports games like cs go or rocket league but for higher resolutions and smooth gameplay make sure that the motherboard is compatible with the 20 or 30 series cards. I think if it supports 3200mhz ram, it will have enought PCIe 3 lanes to not to lose any significance performance.

You should run some benchmarks mentioned in that one video of gamers nexus, type in "2nd hand grapics card buying guide" he also has a video on buying 2nd hand processor. Its not very likely that the guy would agree on the long benchmarks just ask for a warranty for a couple of days.

Overall its a nice deal, if it has all the right compatibility as I mentioned above, then its a fucking No brainer. Go for it.

Not a bad deal at all. I can see that the case is just crap for airflow as it seems to want to pull air through a couple millimteres of space between the glass so yeah when you get it remove that so your system doesn't overheat.

Another thing is 800w psu. You should check which 800w psu it is as this one just from cables and 800w being a odd number to find might be a very bad psu.

Thanks, not a complete novice on computers but definitely been out of the DYI game for a while... like decades, adulthood blows. Just honestly didn't want to spend a crap ton of money for a decent computer. My brother in law and I started a YouTube channel a little bit back (all car stuff, it kills time and makes us laugh) and we wanted something we could do editing on along with a little gaming for his kids.

I agree with everyone else but here's one thing:

Make sure it POSTs and boots into Windows first.

Any seller who's unwilling to demonstrate this is someone you should be unwilling to give money to.

Also, hose the hard drive ASAP and do a fresh install of Windows.  You don't know what the previous owner had on a HDD and you don't want to find out.  Just blindly hose it without snooping and do a fresh install.

Hi all, figured I'd close this out.  Thank you to all the input ended up picking it up today.   Should work out just fine.... except for the case, that thing would make gamers nexus's heads explode, like almost zero air flow in front.
