Hey guys,

So i've had my PSU die on me , my PC would turn off by itself after 5 minutes of running , plus i could no longer start it normally from the start button but had to resort to other solutions to run it(not gonna get into that).

So i've decided to get the Corsair HX850I platinum. Thing is i am afraid it would not be able to run my PC

My specs are

2070GTX

i7-9700k

32GB ram

1 x M.2 970 Evo

1 x 2 T firecuda(might be getting the name wrong it is the hybrid between SSD-HDD)

I use 3 Coolermaster RGB 200mm

3 Noctoa 120mm fans

1 phantek 140mm (the flat edition one [hang on with me on this one lol])

My CPU cooler is ICEGIANT (not the prototype)

Also i am old school and added a disk reader on that babe

My old PSU was seasonic 1050w x-series gold so i am not sure how i feel about going down to 850w.

Thanks for any help in advance

You don't need an 850W for those specs, a 650W would be fine.

The Platinum efficiency rating is also optional, Gold is considered the standard. Platinum PSU's come at a hefty price bump.

I've tried using an Antec PSU 650w bronze and my PC didn't react at all (I can get the platinum cheaper than the gold where i am from, no idea how that makes sense but yeah)

Are you sure there's nothing wrong with your system? It should only draw like ~400W under heavy load.

My system itself ran perfectly just yesterday , plus i had been having troubles with the PSU for a while now , i have done a roundup check on all parts connecting them to another system and nothing came up wrong

250W GPU OC'd with transient peaks in the range of 300W plus 250-300W CPU OC'd plus some 100W for the rest of the system. That's about 700W power draw at absolute peak under stress tests, it seems to me that 850W is higher than 700W.

Then that Antec PSU was dead or you did something wrong, even 1kW system wouldn't draw more than 150W at startup.
