If it was a truly fake GPU, It wouldn't work whatsoever. But the GDDR5 claim is sus for a GTX650.

That's not how a fake GPU works... A fake GPU means a GPU that says it's one thing, but is actually a much worse cheapo card disguised to "look like" whatever it's being sold as. It will still work, it just won't perform near as well as the card you were supposed to get.

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Not entirely correct. It'll boot up, and install basic drivers, and maybe even the "proper" driverset (depending on the level of fakery) but any attempts to push it will result in very bad artifacting as the card runs out of memory long before the drivers thinks it should.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I know that, but 'counterfeit' would be a more accurate term. Either way, it's unlikely to be an actual GTX650.

Two problems with that theory:

1. This card looks like every phoney card based around old 400-series midrange cards.

2. OEM cards pretty much look nothing like this one.

mmmmmm really doubting that. OEM cards nearly always looked like this:

VGAStore.com. DELL 8C3R5 GeForce GTX 650 Ti (OEM) 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

And now let's compare that to a suspiciously similar "Gigabyte" card on eBay. I'm pretty damn sure Gigabyte never made a card with this cooler, and I know they wouldn't have done it using the logo which essentially died in 2006.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/203456980725?epid=141772065&hash=item2f5efb26f5:g:7f0AAOSwFghgoy~9

And here's a few more suspiciously similar GTX 650's just to hammer the point home.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/384105064216?hash=item596e722718:g:WdcAAOSwSCFgfdxA

https://www.ebay.com/itm/402359042770?hash=item5dae77c2d2:g:GCIAAOSwRsJfMzQK

EDIT: Just for funsies I looked up the model number in the "Gigabyte" listing, and big surprise it actually comes back to a real card which is completely different that Gigabyte actually made! https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N650OC-1GI-rev-10-20

The GTX 650 seems like a pretty dumb card to fake. The PCB looks a lot like the Gainward GTX 650 with a OEM Gigabyte/Zotac cooler.

Many cards, including non-oem ones do actually have it. For example all Asus GTX 650's have a VGA port. If anything, looking at techpowerup, most GTX 650's had a VGA. And I mean, why would it not? This card was released back in 2012 after all.

It definitely isn't an 'official card', it could just be a gtx 650 that was meant to be sold as something else, or it could just be an even weaker card under. If you want to find out you can take the cooler out and look at IHS and see what graphics chip it has assuming whoever put this card together didn't sand the writing off, or you can just put it in a PC and boot up GPUZ
