Just curious...    Whenever I upload anything to YouTube in 1440p, it takes ages for the 1440p version to encode and be visible to viewers.  How can a channel like LTT manage to get stuff 4k encoded so quickly?  If I uploaded something in 4K, even a short clip, it takes DAYS before it becomes available.

They upload in advance and set to public when time comes. Also youtube most likely gives more priority to a channel with 13+M subs than to us randoms.

There is so many variables to the encoding time.

When you upload during the "rush hour" the encoding takes a lot longer since their servers have a lot more videos to process.

Also I believe that they encode 1440p to VP9 which takes a lot of time by itself.

Most LTT videos are uploaded several days in advance, pleanty time to give for encoding. Plus they are verified and partner, more money they bring, the higher they are in the queue for processing power.

Of my own uploads, it takes up to couple of hours for 1080p to get there, depending on length of the video.
