I'm using pcpartpicker and I chose everything I need but it says "Compatibility: See notes below" in green. I clicked it and it says "

  • Note:NZXT H710i ATX Mid Tower Case has a front panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port, but the Gigabyte B365M DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard does not have sufficient USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Gen 1 headers. The case USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port will not be usable.
  • Note:The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled.
  • Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders.

Should I worry or not?

It basically says "The case has a USB Type C port on the front, but your motherboard does not have a connector for this"

So either you:

- Live with no USB Type C on the case

- Get a motherboard that does have a header for it

This one means "Your motherboard has six SATA ports*, one of which will be disabled when using your M.2 SSD"

*SATA Ports are used for devices such as:

- SSD's (except M.2 ones)

- HDD's

- Optical drives (DVD/CD/Blu-ray drive)

Usually five SATA ports is still plenty for most builds

Without seeing the full list, it's not possible to fully say if you should worry about this or not.

If you have a larger air cooler, it needs enough room to not interfere with (larger) memory.

I understood the first one but I did not understand the last one with M.2 SSD

This diagram from the motherboard manual might make it a bit more clear:

image.thumb.png.39ce81f8f6fc1d7e8d3d7fa10a91622c.png

There are two types of M.2 drives. PCIe and SATA. Judging by the PCPP warning, you have an M.2 SATA drive.

Refer to the "SATA3 0" column, which shows you can either use an M.2 SATA drive or the SATA3 0 port. You can't use both at the same time.

That warning is just there to make sure you:

- aren't using more than five SATA ports (as the sixth one if disabled, because of the M.2 drive you're using)

and

- to make sure when using any SATA devices (SSD's, HDD's, optical drives), you skip SATA3 0 (because that one is disabled)

So basically:

image.thumb.png.cec676b4f57e762701cdf9cab108ceb1.png

This M.2 slot and that SATA port share resources. You can use one, or the other, but not both at the same time.

So can you please help me find a motherboard with the usb 3 (I don't remember what its called) and the M.2 ssd on ebay for almost 50 usd? Its more like a recommendation

Can you share the PC parts list you had in mind?

Purely looking at "a board that supports the same CPU's as the B365 motherboard you already had, but with a USB Type C internal header" I get a list like this: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#xcx=0&c=136,131,130,128,135&O=1,2&s=30&E=1,5

If you're buying new though, Intel 8th/9th generations CPU's don't make much sense, when Intel 10th/11th gen or Ryzen 3000/5000 is available.

Here's the components

Cpu: i5 9500f

Gpu: asus dual gtx 1070 8gb

Psu: Thermaltake TR2-500W ATX 12V 2.3

Storage: Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD Gen3

RAM: Corsair vengeance RGB Pro 8gb open box (Originally 16gb but the seller took the another 8gb out from the box)

Cooling:Nzxt Kraken x53

Case: Nzxt h710i

And the motherboard is what you recommend.

This isn't anything to worry about. It just means that, when the m.2 slot on your motherboard has a drive in it, one of the SATA ports on the side of the board won't recognize any drives that are plugged into it. Seeing as you don't seem to have a SATA drive, this shouldn't be a problem. However, if you ever want to upgrade your storage, make sure that you don't plug a SATA drive into the disabled SATA port.

TL;DR there's a SATA port on your board that won't work if you have an m.2 drive installed, it's nothing to worry about.

So can you recommend me a motherboard that will not tell that there is an issue?

It is not an issue, it's just a note, something to be aware of.

A motherboard has multiple ports to connect SATA hard drives/SSDs to. When the first m.2 slot has a drive in it one of them gets disabled.

Your parts list shows you are not even using planning to use any SATA drives so it's not relevant for you.

That list of PCPartPicker motherboards is sort of my 'recommendation', since I don't really recommend the 8th/9th gen options if you're buying new.

If you already have the CPU, the different motherboards in that list will provide a similar experience, because they have the right connector for the USB Type C port on your case.

Think of the 6 or so SATA ports on the motherboard like train tracks for each but one of them has two options. You can't do both so you either pick M.2 or SATA for that one port. The other 5 continue to work as expected.

Thanks but do you have a motherboard in mind? I can get the i5 10th gen if needed. I will buy a pre owned so I can save money
