Why does Windows delete thumbnails all the time?! Help me please :(

I have a 6TB HDD with tons of media files, pictures and videos, recoded gameplay, GoPro, etc. There are about 5000 files in total and when I installed Windows 10 I had to manually generate the thumbnails by slowly scrolling down. For like 2 months it was all working well, I had my thumbnails even after restarting PC several times throughout the day. But now for some effin reason, literally all the thumbnails are gone. Like wtf? Why the eff does it delete my thumbnails without consent? This is beyond annoying. What's more annoying is the fact that I don't know how to get around this. Can you guys please tell me why Windows enjoys effing with me? Why does Windows 10 delete my thumbnails for no apparent reason? 

I have more than 65% of storage space available on every single drive that's installed so that can't be the reason. 

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you do a disk cleanup at some point (or have it scheduled to run automatically)?

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that the thumbnails are generated as you scroll through the folder, and they're not actually "deleted" per se, but stored in RAM or a cache and then disappear each time you restart the PC.

No, never done that and I'm not sure if it's scheduled. I don't know where to check it.
