EVGA GTX 780 thermal sensor problem?

numkem

Hello,

I recently bought an EVGA GTX 780 reference card and it would seem like it cannot see it's thermal sensors and just restarts itself with fans at full power. Under linux, if I look at the nvidia-settings panel it says the thermal is at 0 while for my other card (Quadro K5000) it sees it's temperature just fine.

Is this sensor part of the fan assembly? Is it possible to replace it?

Thank you!

I am not sure but I believe temperature sensor is within GPU die. So this is not a easy task.

When I was replacing the thermal compound, I’ve noticed there are 2 cables connecting to the fan. Is it known what they are for?
