I've got the weirdest PC components combo you'll see today

tLEO

My beloved GTX 770 2gb died a couple of hours ago, spewing red lines on my newly bought (26.04) 144hz screen. Here are it's last words

Spoiler

I fell victim of GPU shortage, one could say.

Now, to be honest, I only switched back to this card in May, I exchanged my rx480 that I had since late 2019 for a really good 3D printer, but I had this 770 since 2017, got it used.

The only option I had on hand was GT 630 that I pulled out of an old HP prebuilt system. It's cooler was super dead, I had to attach a new one to it. The best option I had was a twisted pair and I'm too lazy to fix it.

Now my system reads like this:

r7 3800x

Asrock B450 Steel Legend

GT 630

2*8 ddr4 2666 (planned to upgrade them next month, bought a long time ago and they were enough for my workflow)

970 EVO 1tb

And all of this is wrapped up in one of (if not the) rarest PC cases. This may be the weirdest setup you've ever seen. I had to share this surreal experience as soon as possible.

nevermind the dust, my windows look at a literal construction site and it's like 1.5 weeks of dust buildup. Also I had to use the flash, as it's quite dark here at the moment.

I am the true gamer now!

This card already had the similar issue, but with HDMI only. I need an oven to fix this, but I don't own one 😄

Hmm... Ask to borrow a neighbors oven? 🤔

I love PC building and gaming.
REMEMBER botttlenecks can happen at all points of a PC part. Make sure you are at equilibrium. For all parts unless you intend to upgrade at a later point. Also QA Tested AAA Games.

Don't do the oven. It can fix it, but it has a high chance of melting/damaging/burning other components.

Use a heat gun.

tbh, I decided to give up on this gpu untill GPU shortage thing fixes itself. This card is old and I've had to fix it a couple of times (resoldering smds, changing fans and heatsinks)

Not to mention the metal and other toxic particles left in the oven that can contaminate food made in the over after. Never put components in an oven if you plan on using the oven again.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Quote or tag me so I can see your response
