3090 die imperfection?

Dont worry about it, a blemish is fine, its not working silicon right on top of the die

Hello all,

Just took apart my 3090 fe card to put on the ekwb block that I just got. I still need to redo my loop yet. But after removing the thermal paste (which was very caked on) I noticed a few areas where it looks like the die flaked up a bit. Has anyone ever seen this before? Mainly around the 1 and 2 near the middle of the die.

Agreed, consider people lap their dies, this looks like it wont' be an issue at all.

It's fine, actual transistors lay rather deep under the top surface of the silicon and on top of that, there's some epoxy resin. A bit of eching imperfection doesnt affect the GPU.

Thank you everyone for your answers. I have either repasted or water blocked about 20 cards before and this was the first time I have ever seen this.

I've chipped the edge of dies and had no issues a few times, this was back when we still had bare die cpu's

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige
