Buy a bm800 or am 6.35mm jack mic?

Faris14

First of all, hello everyone. I want to buy a microphone for my pc and I am a total noob when it comes to that, I only ever used headsets and in the last couple of weeks my headset my started to bleed every single souns that was coming from the headphones and the sound quality is awful. So now I turn to you LTT gurus. Should I buy a bm800 or are there other options a bm800 with an arm stand would cost me about 43 USD.

I will link a couple od sites where I could buy from( you will have to translate them because I am Bosnian), I would appreciate any advice on which to buy and help my budget is around 50 USD or 80 KM in my curreny.

I bought one similar to this, the Newwer NW-700 I believe (could be 800, too lazy to check). They're all the same. They sound like garbage, and that's with being plugged into a $120 preamp, it's even worse with the included 3.5mm to XLR jack (and that's ignoring the fact that they usually need Phantom power). I recommend getting a cheap lavalier microphone  and sticking it to your old mic on the headset (PewDiePie used to do this and it sounded fine), even the nicer ones are cheaper than the mic and they plug directly into your PC.

not usually, ALL OF THEM. Ive seen so many BM-800 diaphragm buyers including me who thought that they can get away with powering it thru onboard audio amps. Trust me, its not enough at all, you need an amp for it and by that point USB mics from the likes of Fifine, Blue, and Audiotechnica comes into the conversation. Not worth the hassle at all.

True. Guess I've been spoiled by the self-powered shotgun mics we usually use on film sets not needing any sort of external power 😅

This is untrue, electret condensers do not require phantom power. The circuit may function better with Phantom but it is not a requirement.
The original BM series of mics from isk audio are extremely good microphones but all the cheap $10 mics using the same (and similar) names are god awful and you should never touch them.

OP read the link in my signature it answers your question of what mic to purchase, in short, at the price range you're considering your choices are either to go used or just pick up something like the Samson Q2U, ATH2005 or Tbone MB88U.

Yeah but in those "cheap" BM-800 in particular, their sound is so low without a phantom power its literally unusable. I dont say other condensers requires it, im saying those cheap BM-800 in particular. Also TIL that there's a real BM series, thanks for the tip on that.
