Will my laptop be able to run this monitor?

cincomeister

Hello, I am planning to get a gaming monitor and I found this Asus TUF Gaming Monitor (TUF GAMING VG27AQL1A). My laptop is a couple of years old now, it is a MSI gaming notebook.
Here's the spec of the laptop:
GP62MVR 7RF Leopard Pro
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700HQ
RAM: 16GB
Screen resolution: 15.6″, FHD 1920 x 1080
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB GDDR5
Interface:

1 x HDMI
1 x mini Display Port

Can my laptop run this monitor at 2K 144hz? (or even with G-Sync or Adaptive Sync)? I fully understand that this is a bit overkill for my laptop, but I think it's good to future proof.
Cheers!

Via HDMI, probably, assuming the HDMI and mini DP are connected directly to the discrete GPU. Also Adaptive sync is not applicable, only G-sync, and that is if your selected Asus TUF monitor has support for G-sync.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

just asking, but do you think, that a 15,6" screen size is big enough for you?

I thought HMDI doesn't support 2K 144hz.

@Nathanpete
Will my laptop with the spec that mentioned above able to utilized the full potential of the said monitor? I play mostly MOBA and some FPS like CSGO, and Valorant.

No idea about mobas, or valorant, because I mostly play csgo and racing games, but my you could probably play them at 2k 144Hz if you turn down the settings. I suggest 2xMSAA and FXAA in CSGO. Make sure you turn down the texture settings until you are beneath 2.5GB of VRAM usage in your games, otherwise you will have severe stuttering.

In other games, your computer will not be able to take full advantage of your monitor. At least not on medium to high settings in most games. Like on medium in CP 2077 at 2k, you are probably running between 30 to 40 fps.
