Just bought this card EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC GAMING & only reason I'm getting is it's at MSR but, my ? is I have a EVGA 1070ti now & want to know if this is a better card for gaming?

I don't have either of them but I can tell you that the 3060 will be way better than your 1070. especially if you can get the 3060 at msrp.

The 3060 is just a bit faster, but has more features like Raytracing and dlss and stuff like that. All the 3000 Series benefits

Still that isn't an answer. Just because it's expensive rn doesn't mean you should buy it when it is sold for a normal price immediately without any research.

I was hoping to get a 3070 but I'm not buying a prebuilt for over 1000$ just to get a card.

 

I'm still in the Q for 3080, 3070, & 3060ti so I mite just get any of those when they are available

Why do you need a 3090?

 

My point was that spouting specs are not an analytical method of saying something is better.  Real word performance is, you should have talked about it being 20% faster in 2077 for example.

It really depends which game you are talking about. And keep in mind I said it's a bit better WITHOUT accounting for all the extra features of 3000 Series. In some games without RT and stuff the difference is 10 FPS, in some its 70.

Well I currently have a 2080TI so the only logical upgrade is a 3090. Also in-game performance is subjective to the rest of your system. Some games are more CPU heavy and could care less what GPU you have and vice versa. So depending on the rest of his system he may not yield a 20% gain or he may even get more.

Thats literally not how ANY of that works.

 

You cannot compare cuda cores even in the same series of cards. You cannot compared memory speed. You simply cannot. There is SO much more behind those paper specs that equates to actual performance and simply put a 3060 is about 0-5% faster than a 1070ti.

^^^. Can't straight up compare clock to clock on different architectures, as that isn't how performance works. CUDA core count also doesn't mean anything for Nvidia arch vs Nvidia arch as again, that's a function of the cores and on different architectures they are different, and on the 3000 series Nvidia slightly changed what qualifies as a CUDA core so again, not directly comparable. VRAM, also not directly comparable, as you didn't take the bus size into account. That's why there's people who make it their job to benchmark these things and compare actual performance, as those are solid and directly comparable numbers. Hardware Unboxed and GamersNexus do very good and rather in-depth GPU (and CPUs for GN at least) benchmarks, Puget Systems also posts really damn good updates to their blog whenever they have the chance to test new hardware in professional workloads.  
 

Speaking of which: 

GN's review is for the EVGA 3060 XC Black, very similar card, and it consistently beats a 1080, and in some titles barely beats out a 1080 Ti and some other beefy cards. Definitely a noticeable upgrade over a 1070.

They have a 1070ti so it's not that massive of a boost.

Well I got the 3060 RTX & I went form 60 FPS to 100 FPS in Borderlands 3 

 

And it seems faster in Diablo 3, Outriders & other games!
