What GPU can I upgrade to with this power supply?

Fatih19

My sistem has a Ryzen 7 2700X and an RX 580 8 GB, its power supply is a Seasonic M12II EVO 620 W. I know it's a relatively old PSU but I bought it new back in 2018. Should I upgrade my GPU, what's the most that I can go?

Main Rig :

Ryzen 7 2700X | Powercolor Red Devil RX 580 8 GB | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 | 16 GB TeamGroup Elite 2400MHz | Samsung 750 EVO 240 GB | HGST 7200 RPM 1 TB | Seasonic M12II EVO | CoolerMaster Q300L | Dell U2518D | Dell P2217H |

Yeah that's not a very old PSU... What is your 6/8 pin count? My workstation has a 9 year old power supply that works fine, I can't replace it because it's proprietary. So you won't have to worry about replaceing for a few more years.

It has 10 years warranty so I think it will stay with me for a long time. I have 8+8 pin although my card only uses 6+8.

Ah, an 8+8 pin can run pretty much any card out there in the low-mid range and some cards in the high range. I would suggest a 3080 or 6800 when the upgrade time comes around, in a few years I will probably upgrade my 8gb rx 570 to a 5700XT, since my case works well with blower coolers.

You can use the seasonic wattage calculator here https://seasonic.com/wattage-calculator to calculate your current wattage and then put in whatever parts you want and it will calculate for you.

It's a useful tool and thanks for bringing it up. But because my PSU was first released a long time ago and likely not manufactured anymore, it's not there.

Wattage-wise, you should be fine for anything but a 3080 or 3090. 3070 might be stretching it, though. Virtually anything else will be just fine.
