Internet connection on my PC keeps reverting to 100Mbit

Waseland

Hi there,

I finally have a quicker internet connection within my home (500Mbit) and I run CAT5E cables directly from my router to my PC and other devices.
My PC has WIFI but it's disconnected since I only use it when necessary.

Problem:
I think every time (not quite sure) when I cold boot my PC. It limits my internet connection to 100Mbit (source: downloading with +- 12MB/s on Steam and running a speed test).
I think it even shows up in control panel as a 100/100 connection. When I disconnect the cable and put it back in it shoots back to 500MBIT/62MB's and the connection in control panel switches to 1000/1000.

My motherboard is a: MSI X470 Gaming Pro and running Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.19043.

Could this be a problem with Windows? Or has anyone else experienced this before?

Peace!

Have you checked the specs of the router? The router might only support 100Mbit

Well, it does support 1Gbit, and since I get a 1Gbit connection when i reenter my cable in my PC concludes that.
