What happens if i overclock the gpu too much while not using it?

lets make it simple and easy
lets say i am using on board graphics card instead of using my gpu and i overclocked the gpu too much whats going to happen?
Is it going to stop working until i revert the overclocks or its just going turn of my pc?

It's gonna crash when you're using it. plain and simple.
