Thanks, have a nice day pumkins

What numbers are you talking about?   The specs?  The CPU model name?

It's mostly just a name of the CPU. Typically on the first number with Intel/AMD CPU's really tell you something; the generation the CPU was released in. (i.e. an AMD 5800X and 5600X are released in the same generation, Intel 10900K and 10700K too for example).

Intel has some more information on their naming scheme: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html

With AMD there is some consistency (i.e. the x600 and x800 CPU's have always been 6 and 8 core respectively), but it's still mainly "number = CPU. Just look up more info if needed" kind of thing.

The last three numbers have no real meaning, just a sense of relativity over the rest of the products.

The first numbers refers to generation of the product, unless it's AMD where starting from 4000 series, even number of generation will be APUs (i.e. include iGPU) with little to no change to the CPU part from the odd number of generation before it.

Numbers in the CPU will tell you the generation and classification for that cpu.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6ghz = AMD (brand) Ryzen (subbrand) 5 (class group) 3 (generation) 600 (class). 3.6ghz (rated speed).

Variation for AMD, 3200G (G for build in GPU), 3600X (X for higher performance). 3600U (U for mobile).

Intel Core i5 11600KF = Intel (brand) Core (sub brand) i5 (class group) 11 (generation) 600 (class) K (unlocked) F (no GPU).

Variation for Intel, K (unlocked / high performance), F (no internal gpu) which mean no F means there's Integrated GPU.

For CPU classification usually the 3 numbers on the back (600, 700, 800, 900), anything prior to that is the generation.

Higher generation number = Newer cpu, higher performance for the same class.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

If you'll look at the second line of the chip you can get the date it was made and it goes by the year and week of manufacture, plus with most AMD's the chip's stepping is there too.
I'll use an older CPU as an example:
1979201777_AMDOpteron165HEOSK165FQU6CA01.jpg.ffaf159b5a4380e5c20535e406dc3bca.jpg

All the info in the above post (Quoted) applies but there is some additional info too.
With the pictured example, the second line of info that starts with CCBWE has it.
"CCBWE" itself is the chip's stepping and the numbers "0545" indicates the year and week of manufacture, this shows it was made in the year 2005 and was made in the 45th week of that year. The rest isn't really clear and as far as I know doesn't mean alot but then again it has to or it woudn't be there. I haven't (yet) found any reliable info as to what the rest on that line means.
However the batch info and serial is below that in the third line of info you see.

The basics are still the same even for Ryzen chips, if you can decipher the code(s) you'll have plenty of info about your chip.
