I'm curious about something I haven't had a new rig for about 9 years and I really haven't had the ability to keep up with the newer boards that's out. My question is why do they not make(as far as I know) anymore dual GPU's cards like the 4870x2 I'm pretty sure was one.

Nvidia had all but given up on SLI, seems like Radeon has done the same with Crossfire, so it just does not make sense for them to make a card for an audience they don't care about.

The last cards I remember being dual GPU were the GTX 690, Titan Z and R9 295X2.

Google their TDP ratings. Youll get the answer.

And another thing is of course that most use multi GPU tech by the likes of SLI and Crossfire which has its own complication in game support.

Wayyyy too much heat and dying SLI/crossfire is your reason.

IIRC one of the last dual GPU card from Nvidia was the 690 and that was a furnace itself.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

because they require support to be functional

because most game devs didn't support them

because even when they were supported they cost twice the price and didn't produce twice the speed , and ran twice as hot and use twice as much power. they were funny but useless

Ok I appreciate all of the replies. Like I said been away for a while but I remember the PC site I was a member of back in the day had what we would call forum wars, all the big time guys that had the money they would almost always have a dual GPU or two in their rigs. I just wasn't sure why they weren't a thing any longer. I don't game much on the PC I just find it easier to lay the games on my Xbox although if I can ever get a decent GPU for the rig I just built that would be awesome. Hell right now I would take an older model until I can save up for one or if they ever get any in stock.
