Sudden power failure in the whole house, will it damage my hard drive?

buklu

As long as they don't happen often you should be fine.

a hardrives default state has the needle parked so the drive should be ok.

i'm pretty sure hard drives will still park the head in a power loss situation.

on that note, the biggest (only?) issue with unexpected power loss on a computer is that if any software is 'saving' data at that time, that data will most likely be corrupted. this includes your operating system as well.

dont worry, its true unsaved work might go to waste, but your saved data is still saved.

Everyone makes mistakes 🙂

You're only an idiot if you don't learn from them
