Do you think it’s more worth going with the Fractal SFX-L?

It's a rebrand of the Seasonic SGX 650W. It's a decent PSU and 108 Euro sounds about right for it.

Since you're interesting in noise both the Fractal and Corsair units have semi-passive fan modes where the fan won't spin at low loads/temps.

Corsair 600W SF600 SFX-PSU, 80 PLUS Gold (7 year warranty, brand new 134€) The corsair one I could buy used for 80€ -> warranty until 2026

If it has warranty until 2026 then it was manufactured in 2019? There was a voluntary recall for Corsair SF series power supplies in late 2019 & early 2020. Before buying make sure it isn't in the affected batch otherwise you would need to go through Corsair for a replacement. The person selling it might be selling it for cheap so they don't have to deal with the hassle of shipping it back to Corsair for replacement. You can check if the PSU is in the affected lot by checking first 6 digits of the serial number on the PSU. 194448__ to 201148__. The first two digits are the year (19 is 2019, 20 is 2020) and the second two digits are the week it was produced. 44 is week 44 of that year. If it's before 1944 or after 2011 then it's not affected.

The case lists support for SFX-L power supplies and 130mm for power supply clearance. The Fractal SFX-L PSU is 125mm. Should fit based on the case specs, but depending how the PSU is mounted the modular cables might be in the way as they stick out a little bit from the PSU.

The title says it all. Which one should I go for? I want a quiet system.

Fractal Design 650W Ion SFX Gold, modular SFX-L -PSU, 80 Plus Gold, black (10 year warranty, brand new 108€)

or

Corsair 600W SF600 SFX-PSU, 80 PLUS Gold (7 year warranty, brand new 134€) The corsair one I could buy used for 80€ -> warranty until 2026

Thanks in advance. 🙂

It depends on your case. if it can comfortably fit an sfx-l it will be quieter with the 120mm fan.

One thing to keep in mind is the Fractal Ion is SFX-L, not SFX. It's 25mm longer than the Corsair SF600 so it will depend on your case whether or not you can use an SFX-L power supply. Make sure you check the specifications of your case if you can fit an SFX-L power supply.

The Fractal Ion SFX 650W has a Standard+ noise rating on Cybenetics. Also a Tom's Hardware review https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fractal-design-ion-sfx-gold-650w/

The Corsair SF600 Gold isn't on Cybenetics but there's a Tom's Hardware review which includes noise. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/corsair-sf600-power-supply,4537-9.html

Since the Fractal Ion SFX is bigger than the Corsair SF it uses a larger 120mm fan instead of a 92mm fan used in the Corsair SF.

SFX/SFX-L units aren't going to be particularly quiet at heavy loads, simply due to high power density in a small enclosure with smaller fans.

Do you think it’s more worth going with the Fractal SFX-L?
