Samsung 860 EVO vs 870 EVO?

I dont see any difference. Is it still worth it to buy the old model or get the newer model?

as for 870vs860, the 870 is just a refresh with a few minor improvements that no user would notice in day to day usage.

But as Boggy says, 860 vs 870 is unnoticeable.  Like most SSD comparisons for most users, Linus and crew can't tell from a gaming perspective.

 

Honestly, unless you're buying Samsung for a specific reason or it's on sale... much better deals out there usually.

I just want to know if is still better to buy the older model than the newer one. Unfortunately, my country does not have that good deals as the US does. The cheapest 250GB WD Blue I saw was $5 more expensive than a cheapest 250GB 860 EVO I saw and MX 500 seems to be rare and quite expensive so I stick the WD and Samsung as they are always available.

No, it's not better.  Even if the 860 EVO was sitting on a shelf 1 year or 2 longer than the newer 870 it wouldn't be "worse".

 

Buy the 860 EVO.  Look in my sig if you need a reason why.  2 reasons actually.

I own both the 860 EVO and the 870 EVO. Get whichever one you can and don't worry about it. For basically everything they're identical.

I also love the 860 as I have 8 '860s working just fine along with a couple of '840s still going strong 17TB in. I'm a little jealous of my 970 EVO Plus M.2 speed but that's to be expected from better technology.

As this was already digged out, so I will just add that the 860 have less dense NAND, so it will actually performance better on writes for the lower capacity version 250GB-500GB.
