Thoughts for a virtual penny

Hey everyone! During the start of the pandemic when everything was going virtual I decided it was time to buy a PC. I went to microcenter and had no idea what I was doing but had a budget of $600. So I started to work with one of employees. My main use for my computer is video editing with premiere pro in 1080p, programming, and online school. (Also just an additional note I had not intended to spend money on a Pc and was on a VERY tight budget). The employee helped me with a PowerSpec B677 Desktop ComputerIntel Core i5 9400 2.9GHz Processor; 16GB DDR4-2666 RAM; 500GB SSD; Intel UHD Graphics 630. I also got an Asus Gtx 1650 4oc graphics card. In addition to the SSD I got a seagate 2tb HDD. Now I know prebuilts are not the way to go but did I get ripped off or for my budget did I get a pretty good PC. I ended up spending around $900 but did buy the graphics card open box for a slight discount.

You definitely paid the prebuilt tax there and they definitely hiked up the price of that 1650.

Thats like a 6-700$ build tops.

Wow! I knew about the prebuilt tax but didn’t know I over spent much.... I have feelings for microcenter -_-

Just a 1650 is crazy priced right now.  You got a useable system for under $1000,  not the best deal on the planet but not a ripoff.  How about software?  Win10 costs money too.

Um idk... It definitely will be enough for your intensions, but prebuilds are never a good idea because you pay the pre-build tax, which you could have avoided by just asking here, on forum. For that budget you could have gotten faster RAM and better CPU, and I think that  Asus Gtx 1650 is a bit of overkill. If you gotten something from gtx 10 family, you could have gotten more RAM which you will definitely need. In conclusion... you got ripped off, got system that will not respond to your needs and gotten over budget, but this PC will be enough for your work.

In my opinion you want your computer to last awhile. If you do video editing you probably are not the average computer user. Most likely you use your computer every single day. So with such a tight budget 1000& do very good research and next time try not to rely on some store employee. Nothing is wrong with pre build's for the most part.

Yaaa. I’ve thankfully learned more over the pandemic but I still have room to learn lol

Thanks for your response! Good to know! I did get cpu with computer Bc of the prebuilt aspect but I have kind of already wanted to upgrade the cpu but mostly I want to upgrade the ram. Thanks for your input! Still have more to learn!

Depends:

The 1650 was obiviously extra.
Was the 2TB HDD included in the computer, or was it a separate add on purchase?

Did you pay to have the card installed?
