Ideas for a second monitor in addition to an ultra wide

ColonelMortimer

Hi everyone,

so for about two years I´m using a LG38UC99-W as my only display.

It´s fine for most of the time, but my problem is, that I can´t watch anything (twitch, netflix, youtube) while gaming.

Therefore I´d like to add a second monitor, but it shouldn´t interfere with the pretty clean look of my desk right now.

Do you have any suggestions what could fit in?

Sizewise a 30" display would be perfect, but it seems there are almost no displays available in this size here in Germany (found some more in the US).

So a 27" seems to be my best option. On the other hand a portable display might work as well and would feel a bit lighter than a big monitor stand.

So if anybody was (or is) in the same situation how did you "fix" this problem?

Thanks, Markus

If you just want a reasonably cheap 27-inch HDMI monitor which has a minimalist appearance and a decent picture quality for the price, then get one of these:

It's not going to blow you away or anything (it's not 4K or high refresh rate), but there's no point in spending loads of money on something that will be off to one side and just used for watching videos.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.
