wth is a radeon w5500x mpx module?

apparently it is for mac

it seems to be recent

but it has a weird slot, so it's not compatible with the classic pcie

I found one for 250 euros, while the msrp seems to be around 700 euros

 

online I'm not finding any benchmarks nor if it can mine 

is it any good? can it be easily reselled?

MPX is the 'standard' that Apple made for the new Mac Pro (afaik it's basically a PCIe 16x slot with a second connector for power) it won't work in a normal PC without modification.

I assume it's the same GPU as a Radeon Pro W5500, maybe slightly faster.

The only benchmark I could find was geekbench and it  says it's slower than both an RX 580 and a W5500 non-x. I don't really trust geekbench anyway, it's performance probably isn't anything to write home about.

I doubt it, can't imagine many people are buying second hand parts for a $10,000+ basically new computer.

Not really worth much of anything, no.

You could buy it, hold onto it until enough Mac Pros hit the market that people are buying them, and then hope that someone needs the upgrade. There is, however, far better things to sink  your money into.

if that's just like a w5500 looks pretty trash, but dunno if apple users might like something like that

You're looking at a subset of a subset of a subset. It's far too niche of a market to be worth trying to sell, and if someone wanted one, they could just buy it from where you got it, no?

I bought it from amazon warehouse

there was only one piece

it picked up my attention because it was 450 less than what they had listed the new parts (700)

 

or were you referring to the fact that they most likely are going to buy directly from the "official" sources?

If they buy at all.

You'll be trying to sell to someone who's a Mac user, who has a Mac Pro, and who likely bought it second hand. It's extremely niche. Most people who buy a Mac Pro are professionals, and they're going to have purchased what they needed from Apple at the time of purchase, or they'll buy it from Apple to get warranty support, something they won't get from you.
