Budget (including currency): $1500-$2000+ (not including monitors,mice) 

Country: USA 

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 

Personal: Mostly casual gaming, COD warzone, Diablo 2/D2R/SC2

 

Work: Support for 4 monitors, Citrix Remote Desktop. 

 

Other details:

 

I live in New York City in an apartment that isn’t ideal for a large full size tower. I have a desk but most of the space is taken for 4 monitors. So space being a concern - I’d prefer to build a smaller PC via a mini itx build. I have luckily landed a ASUS TUF 3060 12GB at retail and also an AMD 5600x at retail as well. As you can tell, the games I play aren’t terribly intensive - but this is all an upgrade relative to the Dell XPS 13 I dock into a D6000 hub currently.

 

The build parts I was thinking to start with are as follows: 
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core*
Asus ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING
NZXT H210 Mini ITX Case
ASUS TUF RTX 3060 12GB OC*


*have confirmed orders @ retail cost. Could be returned or swapped to something else if recommended. 
 

Any critiques would be great on the motherboard. Couldn’t figure out the difference between the 570 and B550


If the above is okay - I need some recs on power, water cooling, memory, and storage. 
 

Overall, I can deal with paying more if I can be better convinced that my build won’t go irrelevant in 4 years time and have to upgrade components. I was also thinking about waiting for a 3070 and giving the 3060 to a friend at retail. I don’t have an urgency on this build - would rather just build a rig that’s slightly overkill than underwhelm. Would the 3070 be too much heat for that case?
 

Also I would be open to upgrading the CPU if there were something in the 350-400 range that is a significant upgrade. I paid 300 for the 5600x. How does the latest rocket lake lineup compare to the 5600x? I can’t find many great comparisons and benchmarks given it just was released.

ended up changing the case because the h210 isn't very good, the nr200 is a much better option

also the AIO is overkill, any decent air cooler will do the job

The motherboard is fine. For you X570 is useless. 

The newest rocket lake lineup (the i5s specifically) are slightly slower than the 5600x in everything. The 5600x has identical gaming performance to the 10700k, except in esports titles, where the 5600x destroys all intel cpus. (for reference, with a 3080 the 5600x gets around 700FPS in CSGO, with the 10700k getting 500)

Not really worth it imo. There isn't much that has changed from the last-gen chips. The title of the video below pretty much sums it up. 😄

Considering you have some budget remaining, swap the case for a FormD T1 I'd say. You might have to overpay if you want it now, but they will be restocked in April (not for very long though, usually lasts like 1-2 minutes) if you can wait.

 

It's a sub-10L (9.5) case with 3-slot GPU support (including RTX 3090 FE if you want to upgrade in the future) as well as 240mm radiator (depending on which AIO you choose, there's a compatibility list) support with slim fans.

The worst part is that they are barely better than last gen (if at all) and now you can't even get a 10 core.

True, I think they would have been better off just skipping 11-gen for the desktop and continuing with the existing lineup.

It’s not much better. The motherboard and RAM are stupidly overkill, and the PSU is a bit worse quality
