A little OOT: is the AD700X discontinued or rare by any chance? I've been browsing around in my country (in Asia), most stores have the AD700 and the AD900X, but none have the AD700X or the AD900 (without X). Is it just because they're going with best sellers?

Non-X versions are out of production but maybe there's a bunch of stock that hasn't been sold due to low demand in your area.

It's actually the opposite. Can't find any AD700X here, but numerous stores carry AD700 (without X). Any discernable upgrade of the X compared to non X version of the AD700? I've been thinking of getting the AD700 (X or non X), because I've read that they're good for gaming.

-snip-

The AD700s are nice but very lacking in bass. Good positional accuracy for competitive fps games but not really a "fun" set of headphones. I have a set and while they're nice I wouldn't recommend them unless you already have a different pair for general purpose use. Especially if you like any music with bass.

Blue line is the AD700s.

Unlikely, hard to find even broken. I need a new pair of wings since one of my support pads are loose. Still fits and works fine I just clench my butthole everytime I put them on.

Why did you sell these T50's anyway? They completely beat the tar out of my 990s, will probably get rid of them soon.

I need to know what are good speakers

Also a headset and mic recording

For pc

Budget $300

Are you using the headphones for recording? If so, Sony MDR-7506 and a Blue snowball mic would be great. As for speakers, Swan M10s are great if you can find them. If not, get a lepai 2020A+ amp and some nice bookshelf speakers. If the headphones are for general listening, then I would recommend Beyerdynamic DT770 or DT990.

Because HD 650's are my main squeeze.  ^_^

Muh angled drivers tho.

I thought my K702's were nobass, but the graph suggests the AD700's are the true nobass...

What do the angled drivers achieve?

well, for one the sound can go around corners, not too many drivers can do that.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Was mostly a joke.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the X series does better with the bass, but can't find any graphs on sites that do both series.

IIRC the X models are just closed-back versions, so they should inherently have more bass.

ATH-AD = open

ATH-A = closed

In your opinion, of course.

I quite like them, some songs (or gaming?) don't need very much bass at all. If you wanted to you could fix the EQ a bit. The bass is there, you can here it, but it's very subtle.
