So my 2070 pc died last week and I started the process of looking to try and find parts vs buying a prebuilt and when I hit Best Buys site this Thermaltake prebuilt was in stock so I grabbed it first and decided to ask questions later since I have a month to return it as it arrives this weekend.

My question is I know Thermaltake isnt the greatest case designer in the world and concerns me over how much the fans are enclosed by the glass mainly up front but does this build seem to have enough air flow that heating should not be an issue?

I know the price is steep but I got it for 20% off that price showing so not overly concerned about what I paid for it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Actually, not terrible. The Front fans are completly useless, as even though there's a decent gap, they're 200mm fans which do NOT have good static pressure and as a result cannot pull the air in front he sides. They should have left it completely clear of fans. The one saving grace is this is basically a mix between Corsair's 680X and Lian Li PC-O11D, the latter of which means the bottom intake and side intake would actually allow for decent CPU and GPU cooling.

It wont kill a 3080 or a 5800x.

thermaltake cases are not bad looking cases in terms of design but the fucntion of them is what kills them. what you are going to have in this case is a bunch of negative pressure inside which actually might help a little but not by much if at all.

the real issue with most tempered glass front panel cases is that they do not allow much air thru the little slot on the corner of the case for air to get to and thru the fans.

As long as there is enough air flow with everything to not cook my stuff I will be happy.

Have built my last 3 PCs so this will be my first prebuilt from all the back to a 333 mhz Compaq

you should be fine but make sure you download some sort of software that will allow you to monitor the temps of the different components.

Yup I will keep an eye on temps and not opposed to making changes if I need to.

I was just not wanting to hear some people here say how pure crap that case and configuration was 🙂

the configure of the case is kind of crap because the 200mm fans do not provide the airflow as the 120mm and 140mm fans do. i would suggest swapping them out but since this is a prebuild, the company would try and claim you voided the warranty by doing it.

Yeah I probably wouldnt make any changes during its warranty and have 30 days to return it if it runs hot

i am betting it will run hot but most computers do when under a load like highly detailed gaming.

looking at thermaltakes site, you can remove the glass front panel. so that might help a little.

I appreciate you guys help as that case just kind of concerns me with all that glass.

My son was at his local Best Buy and picked this PC up open box buy so will be testing this one side by side with the Thermaltake and see which runs cooler and quieter at 4k 120+ fps.

they are going to be pretty close. yours has faster RAM but less of it at 16gb, your son's has slower RAM but more at 32gb. your son also has a better processor at being the i9 10850k

compared to the ryzen 7 5800X

He is my main gaming partner and knew my pc just died and had actually grabbed that one to replace mine so I will kind of have a choice between the 2.

Mine arrives Saturday and he lives about 4 hours away for his work so will probably drive up and grab that one this weekend as well and let the testing begin.

the corsair will have better base temps because the front of that case is an open design which allows airflow over the fans and into the case.

Thank you again for all your input

you are welcome. i just bought myself a new case that within the next two weeks i will be taking the system i have now and placing it in that case so i dont have to worry about the limitations of the case being a problem ever again.

So uh... your 2070 wouldn't happen to be in working, purchasable condition would it? ahaha...

Its started artifacting really bad.

I switched cards from my wifes pc that has a GTX 1070 and the artifacting continued for her with the 2070 so I am pretty sure that card is shot.

RMA the card to the manufacturer as it should still be under warranty.

Yeah going to contact MSI and get it taken care as I think it was a 3 year warranty and got this one right at launch (late 2018 I think?)

If it gets fixed will probably become my wifes PC as I have just been looking for a reason to upgrade my PC since landing the LG 27GN950 monitor

Just a little update.

My son ran the CORSAIR open box buy playing a lot of Warzone and PUBG on his 1440p 144hz monitor for about 3 straight hours of gaming and the highest temp he saw was 74c with no OCing so that one seems to be fine.

Will get my hands on the Thermaltake Saturday then make the trip to go grab that one from him and see which one stays with me.

74c with a case that allowed more airflow than  the one you are waIting on? if you do the same thing then expect your temps to be in the mid to upper 80s at least.

Yeah I am afraid the Thermaltake will for sure run hotter though he says its mainly staying in the mid 60s

I am going to try and remove the glass front and possibly the top off the Thermaltake and see what that does to temps.

Still says it arrives tomorrow the 27th so we'll see.
