You will not get more than you pay for, period.

For cable internet a modem is required along with a router, sometimes they are all-in-one units but both parts are needed.

So my internet is not so good. The speed of the modem itself is 200mbps to 300mbps.

Can i use a third party router instead of using the modem? Will It increase the speed?

Firstly you need both a modem and router. Yes you can use third party Comcast actually has a sizable list of 3rd party modems that are allowed, plus you are looking at saving on your bill from not having to pay the rental fee. Further more Comcast generally gives 20% more speed than what you pay for, as long as you have the bandwidth available on the node. Due to the nature of how cable internet works, the more people on your node using the services, the potentially slower service you will get.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
