Low performance on RTX 3070

hey everyone,

I need some help here, I just got into PC gaming but I feel I'm running at subpar fps on my games at 1080p. I barely crack 80 fps in any gane I have on my pc/ Granted 80 fps isn't anything to sneeze at but for a 3070 kind of low. My laptop with a 1050 at medium settings would run this. Games at high settings can barely break the 80 fps mark. Any suggestions?

Ryzen 7 3700x

Asus Dual OC RTX 3070

16gb of dual channel ram at 3200

Do you have any temperature issues?

Do you have enough power supply?

If you leave task manager open while gaming (with the cpu tab set to logical cores, by right clicking on the graph) and look at it afterwards, is your gpu maxed out while gaming? Could you post a screenshot of task manager with like the screenshot below?

Spoiler

Ah, 461.92 is pretty recent, try DDU and reinstalling that

Download DDU and the GPU driver, unplug your internet so windows don't do its thing (it'll try to install its own drivers after you run DDU)

Run DDU and install the GPU drivers, you may restart if you wish but I never needed to

Can u show GPU usage graph in msi afterburner? While running your games

Cpu usage as well, individual threads

Likely a CPU bottleneck, judging by the high usage on some of the threads

Meaning there's nothing much you can do to improve performance other than:

Overclocking the CPU

Close unwanted background apps

Upgrade your CPU

Explains why you're getting the same fps on a 1050, the 3070 is hardly used (though task manager can't be trusted with GPU usage accuracy)
