Which CPU will pair well with 3090 FTW3 Hybrid

As mentioned I have an EVGA 3090 FTW3 Hybrid and now since the AMD CPUs are not as scarce as they once were, I'm trying to decide which CPU will pair well for me. The main use will be for 4K gaming, I'm not a streamer or content creator. I'm eyeing the 5800x but I'm still wondering if that will pair well or not, suggestions much appreciated. Oh if it matters I have an X570 motherboard with trident 32GB 3600MHz RAM.

Hmmmm. A 3090 almost $2000 card you can pair with 5800x, $450 cpu.

Why don't you get top of the line CPU instead like 5900x or 5950x?

If you can afford $2000 then you also have the money to buy 5900x or 5950x.

Pretty much any cpu will bottleneck 3090 , so the more you cheap out the worse this will get.  You basically *have to* get the fastest available cpu, otherwise a 3090 makes z e r o  sense.

It kinda does, it severely limits your options.

What games are you gonna play at 4k?

To play what? He wants 4K, 3090 plays better at 4K than 3080

He doesn't want crazy framerate, a Ryzen 5/7 is enough for 4K

Throwing away money that won't make a difference while gaming doesn't make any sense, it would make sense to you if it's your money, but it's OP's

Here a thought for you guys,

Ryzen 9 5900x = $539

RTX 3080 = $900

Total = $1439

Ryzen 7 5800x = $450

RTX 3090 = $2000

Total = $2450

He waste $1000 one the 3090 part with 5800x and its unbalanced build.

Cyberpunk, The Medium, Valheim, Ark, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Outriders, Halo Infinite(single player only not a FPS PvP guy lol)......well lets save time and say most Xbox exclusives coming out this year I will play on PC as Im not in a hurry to get a Series X or I probably won't to be honest so I wanted to make sure I'm future proof for 5,6,8 years from now to do 4K gaming at the highest setting on future titles.

Do you multitasking while playing games at the same time?

Yea I do, work from home but it's usually things like having a bunch of browsers and tabs open along with spreadsheets and word documents while playing something at the same time

Yeah I know that,  he's making a poor value choice even, well, poorer...

Someone with  3080 and a better cpu will overall probably get better perf,  and they certainly pay less and are just much happier all around ! 🤷‍♀️

Cpu wise this might be possible (4 years?)

GPU you're looking at a few years at most. 3090 can't do full feature 4k 60fps on some titles even now

I see what you saying but at the time the I was able to get in queue for the 3090 and was trying to get a new GPU. I had money set aside for either a 3080 or 3090 so PERSONALLY it didn't affect me any when it came to finances.

Let me give you this suggestion, you buy a 5900x and rx 6800 xt. They are good combo for 4k and you grow in to it maybe 3-5 years. Maybe like 4080 or RX 7800 xt comes you can pair with your 5900x with no bottleneck at all. 4k is pretty demanding BTW too.

7800xt or 4080 will crush 3090 for sure

I'm just saying cpu bottleneck is the worst, you can't just lower settings,  you're stuck not being able to do anything but buy a new cpu...

So if you at all can afford it you should get one of the top 5 cpus Iinked above (there's only one Ryzen,  2 if you count top 6...)

If change to new cpu is better just build a pc instead IMO.

That's a really nice CPU, so you can either get a Ryzen 5600X (which is really, really good if you are targeting 4K, and can upgrade later down the road to a Ryzen 9 if you feel like it) or get the 5800X which is great too but if your display won't support higher refresh rate you might not see any difference with newer titles

So, what you saying is upgrade my monitor to a 4K 120Hz and get the better CPU, fine you convince me to spend more money lol joking........................maybe🤓

Yeah man look at those sweet 4k CPU scaling differences

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-7-5800x-zen-3-review/4

Even at 1440p there's barely any difference and the 5800x beats the 5900x when pbo enabled.

Def get a 5900x, 5800x is too weak for 3090 at 4k

I may get the same GPU and I picked the R 7 5800X.

It will just game at first and when it does productivity cuda will do the hard work so more cores are not necessary.

I also have Intel 6,8, and 10 core Intel CPUs and 8 seams enough and more cores sometimes get in the way.

I use 120hz 4k TVs for gaming so my goal is 4k 120hz and the R 9 5800X and my i9 10900k can feed those frames to the GPU in most games but there are no GPUs that can do the fames yet and the 3090s will just get me closer.
