Bent Capacitor on Motherboard - safe to use?

I have recently been given an old PC, and have decided to turn it into a retro XP-based system for light use etc.

Upon examining the system before cleaning up and installing parts, I noticed that one of the capacitors on the motherboard (an old Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe board) is bent.

I have read some other older threads on various forums, and the general consensus seems to be that if the pins are still attached, you should be able to bend the bent cap back into the normal position.

I just wanted to check whether you think this Motherboard would be safe to use and turn on with a full system?

I have attached multiple photos, so you can see what you make of it!

Thanks very much.

I agree, i've attempted to bend pins back before and ended up breaking them. it's best to leave them as is @OP

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Thanks for taking a look at this - yes, they are indeed very fragile. The capacitor itself has quite a loose fit, so if it can be kept in one position where the leads make contact, that would be good.

It's fine and bending it back isn't a problem. Just do it slowly and it should be OK once done.
I've done it too many times myself with stuff I've had to work on.

Replacing them isn't hard to do either if you must.

Yes, of course!! That PC has been in storage for a while, only just come out - wanted to check the hardware was in decent condition before starting work and cleaning on it.

I would like to submit a triple like for this. @wkdpaul, please make that a thing.

As long as you don't monkey with it, you'll be fine as-is.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
