Canon Speedlite 550 ex not working in M Mode but in Auto Mode

Hi, 

my Canon Speedlite 550 ex is not working in Manual Mode on my Canon EOS 100D. But it works no problem in Auto Mode. In the M Mode I can set the mode on E-TTL II but on the Speelite there is just ETTL is this the Problem? But why does it work in Auto Mode?
