First time build and I'm lost

Budget (including currency):  $US 1200 willing to go to 1500 if need be

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: HD gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  all new from scratch. Don't need a monitor or keyboard an mouse just the pc its self. Not sure what is best to put in it so whatever any of u think would work best for a gaming PC. Thank u so much in advance if any of u can help me with this.

*EDIT*

Will do a pre build if anyone could show me some good ones.  Alienware has some but they want almost $1700 for a pc that is not the basic build. But please let me know even of it is Alienware I'm open to ideas 💡

now is unfortunately a bad time to build a PC, because of bad pricing and availability. How long would you be able to wait?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Honestly, right now you're going to have a real bad time trying to build. Part availability is next to nil.

Do you need peripherals in that budget as well?

Right now is a very bad time to build a gaming PC because of crypto mining and scalpers jacking the prices to the moon. Availability is a very tough thing to find, especially in America.

I may be stupid, but at least I'm not an idiot.

Well, afaik GPU market is not present, but all other components are quite reasonably priced...

I updated the post that I don't need any peripherals. Thanks for pointing that out for me

I'm fine with building slowly an adding parts as I can go even if it takes me 10+ months to build

CPUs can be a bit twitchy and I’m not sure about good motherboard and PSU availability.  Ram is actually quite good atm.  I also don’t know about cases.  GPUs though are quite bad.  Right now the argument for a prebuilt is stronger than usual because the prebuilt manufacturers can get GPUs.  I keep finding reasons to hang fire myself.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

As much as it sucks to say, the best way right now would be prebuilt. Find one with dual channel memory, the parts you want and leave room in your budget for a good PSU. Once the prebuilt shows up, if the PSU is normal prebuilt PSU standards(crap), buy a new PSU, swap psu and cables and call it a day.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

CPUs are pretty far and few between as well.

That's the absolute worst way to build a PC, you'll end up overpaying for a lot of parts by the end, and have stuff that's outdated.

As @Voluspa pointed out, prebuilt is probably your best route right now.

OK, I guess a different market there.

10700KF for 300€ here seems quite good.

Intel is not getting hit as hard as AMD. It actually makes the intel stuff more reasonable by comparison sometimes
