So at  my parents house I found a couple old PC's which and I do mean OLD.  2 I built and 2 were purchased (Compaq's lol) Pentium 3, Pentium 4 and Celerons so my question is since the hardware is old enough to be of era (like Win 95 would know what it is) Can I not only install 95 but would it be able to get online? Since the ethernet card is of the era? or would the certificates stop me all together?  I kinda of what to use the system for a multi boot win 95/98/ME/2000/XP

Thanks guys

You might be able to install 95, though you'd have to use 64MB or less of RAM.

They're better suited for 98 SE and 2000.

Also no, you can't go online due to the certificate issues (and you shouldn't anyway - unsafe).

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

You can get online, but nothing will render properly, as all the modern things like CSS, etc the old IE won't know what to do with. Even something as simple as www.google.com won't render right

Ahhh ok.. so 95's Max ram is 64MB... ok I'll have to lower it in bios (I Think the weakest system has 512) IF those old bios will let me lol

Also once its installed can I put he ram back to 512?

No. Windows 95 does not support past 64MB.

To use 512MB of RAM you'd need Windows 98 SE or newer. 98 FE supports 256MB and 2000 2GB.

Matt KC did a video on this where he did close to what your doing. He had some things that I think will help you. In DOS you can limit ram and his videos show how to do it. 🙂

Well, on win95/win98 it is probably perfectly safe at this point - because no malware will work and known xp/vista/7/10 vulnerabilities would not exist there either.

If you can find it (and that's a big if) very old versions of Opera still work kind of okay online, should let you browse basic sites (LTT would be right out)

and you might get lucky and find an old copy of Lynx (which is a text-only browser)

No one needs more than 64mb RAM anyways, don't let these guys lead you astray... win 95 even plays D00M perfectly fine!
