with aRGB stuff, i assume that the header itself just has the 5v and gnd pins go straight to the nearest power rails.. i'd have to measure a motherboard to test this, and i'm not about to disassemble my pc to probe stuff.. but i assume there's no reason why you couldnt...

also, isnt aRGB limited by number of LEDs, rather than current draw?

no it just repeats its self.

mb header is max 3 amps

you can pull power form the psu and the data and ground from the mb

rgb on the other hand is a bit different as you need to get a repeater then get power form the psu to the repeater just like injecting power in long strips in rooms.

I tested it now with almost 5A in ARGB's. That Sata connector gets HOT

5v and ground from SataPower and the signal wire from the CM ARGB controller

you have 5 amp of strips? or argb devices? maybe split them up in to two sets with 2 sata power.

i think some one said sata connector should do like 20ish amps and i dont no about the wire gauge coming off of it. should do 5amps thow i would think.

im at 4,56 in my test setup! 😄

judging from the heat, the "bottleneck" is at the SataConnector not at the thin ARGB wires.. they cool and good

Just a test, in my plans for the next PC upgrade when(IF) a 3080 lands, im only doing 3,7a.  but even that is more than what CM H500m controller / MB can handle

ya solid white or red i think is the most demanding. i guess white because it uses all 3 colors. ya ill have to update my guide on the different of sata and molex.
