Windows 10 education? First build.

I'm building a new M-ATX size pc, this is the first time I've built. I spent almost all my money on the parts, even though im not even using a GPU or anything good. (I have an APU- an AMD Athlon 3000g.) I cant really afford Windows. I heard about Windows 10 education being free for some students, but I cant fid anything about it, except pre-installed on laptops.

IIRC, you need a .edu email and your school has to be supported. Check here.

windows 10 keys can be found for $10 on legit websites. You can also just load it up without a activated version of windows but you will loose some customisation options (wallpapers etc. so nothing major). You will also get a watermark in the bottom left hand corner but I find it fine and I never notice it.

Nope, $10 Windows key aren't legit, it's grey market at best.

 

If he's a student and his school is registered, he can get Windows 10 for free, see the link I and @Levent posted, that's a legit place where MS gives access to discounted or free softwares for students.

If OP can get it for free then obviously it makes more sense. I have used a couple of windows key websites and bought for around that price and never had a problem.

As @UpTheDons said, you can still get the Pro version for free and run it unactivated until you have money to buy a key later on.
