Which graphics card should I buy for making videos using screen recorder software ?

Go to solution Solved by SupaKomputa,

How much is the 10700/K without F? go with that.

Intel integrated GPU has better support than GT710.

Or if you want a gpu try finding used RX460 or 560.

https://github.com/obsproject/obs-amd-encoder/wiki/Hardware-Support

Or for Nvidia get anything with "GTX" and generation 6+, recommended GTX650.

With that you can use Nvidia Shadowplay to record.

I want to build a pc for music production. I have selected the following parts

Usage music production rig
Cabinet Ant Esports ICE-511MT (Vertical VGA Mount Compatible)
Intel Processor Core I 7 10700F (Upto 4.8 Ghz ,Cores-8 Threads-16)
MSI Motherboard Z490 TOMAHAWK
SMPS Cooler Master
Cooler Master SMPS CM MWE 550 W 80 PLUS BRONZE V2
Crucial SSD P1 1TB PCI NVME
HDD2 Seagate 2 TB BARRACUDA 7200 RPM
RAM Gskill 16 GB DDR4 RIPJAWS V 3200 MHz CL16
Coolers Air Cooler
Air Cooler Coolermaster
Coolermaster Cooler HYPER 212 RGB BLACK EDITION

But the problem is I don't know which GPU to buy. I wanted to buy Gt 710 coz GPU is not important for music production but now my brother wants to make videos for youtube by recording  screen of powerpoint slides by obs software and talking through mic and very light video editing.

I am thinking of buying Gt 710. Will gt 710 suffice my screen recording and light video editing need. Or should I go for a different graphics card ? If yes then which one ?

if you want to use nvenc the least i'd recommend is a 1650 super

but given that cpu i'd say you will be fine with x264 encoding so nvenc is not necessary just use cpu recording

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

1650 super way too costly. The most costly gpu I can put is a Gt 1030. Will gt 1030 handle the screen recording and light video editing work properly ?

The 10700f doesn't have an iGPU, so unless you can find a 10700f + GT 710 combo for significantly cheaper than a 10700, you won't have a display output for your PC at all, not to mention that the way your system is configured makes the UHD 630 faster than the GT 710, plus it has hardware acceleration for video encoding which the GT cards lack, so you can offload rendering work to the iGPU (although with that powerful of a CPU, simply using x264 is better)

light video editing yes

recording no

nvidia in their infinite wisdom removed nvenc from gt cards

imo just use cpu for editing and recording a powerful gpu is not necessary

But he has no display output, so he'll need to switch to a 10700 right?

Or am I missing something?

his plan is to go with a dedicated gpu that can record and be used for video editing but i suggested him to go with his og plan (10700f + gt710) though uhd630 in 10700 non f is better than gt710 it might not be available

I am confused. Why can't gt 710 hlep in doing screen recording with obs software ?

I'm about to say use the integrated GPU, but F has not GPU. Sad.

You don't need GPU to stream / output , just use software encoder (it will use the cpu)

There's a bug in the new version, try using an older version, like 1 year ago.

But I don't want to stream. I want to record the screen and then post it on youtube.

Even better, you absolutely can use CPU only with this method.

Now there's a lot of OBS alternative out there for screen recording.
