Flickering at 144hz

venomx

Just bought a new samsung monitor.

Works fine in HDMI 1 port at 1440p but no option to change past 60hz

Put the cable into HDMI 2 and it goes to 144hz but flashes, why ?

Probably poor quality HDMI cable, especially if its the included one in the box.

Do you have gsync/freesync enabled? It's just it could be on by default. Also that not every freesync monitor can run on gsync. Some have issues. Flickering at 144mhz is a common symptom of that.

It starts flashing as soon as I log in. Not just on games

I can't see any option to enable/disable gsync ( I have a 3060ti )

I changed freesync in the monitors settings to " Ultimate " and now it's much better. However only running at 120hz and ocasional flicker.

I have a display port cable on order, hopefully that sorts it

I think you'll find the display port cable will fix it for you.

Got the KabelDirekt DP cable. Seems 100% so far on 144hz. Not tried gaming yet

144hz is awesome, so much better than 60hz and even 100hz

144Hz is optimal, maybe 165Hz IPS...

Not too much contrasting with my 280Hz monitor.

But would not downgrade still (I've got VG279QM).

Yet people with 60Hz should give a try to 144(+) Hz

I edit my posts more often than not
