Hi there,

I have a Ryzen 5 2600x, and it’s hitting about 80 degrees (Celsius) while gaming. So, shall I buy a hyper 212 evo, or an aio such as a cooler master masterliquid lite 240? Is one better than the other?

Thanks for your help in advance

Well first of all the 2600x *usually* shouldn't be getting that hot in most games. Have you overclocked it? What case do you have? What's your idle temperatures? How hot is your environment?

Secondly, the 212 evo is under $40 USD, and the masterliquid is like... $80+? I wouldn't really reccomend either, as the 212 for the price isn't great, and the masterliquid iirc has been known to have leaking problems.

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

80c is still fine. what is your case and ambien temp?

My case is the CiT Flash, but I don’t know what the ambient temp is. It’s not exactly warm, but it’s not cold either. I would say it’s somewhere around the 20 degree mark.

I have an A320 board, so it’s not overclocked, and my case is a CiT Flash. Also, my idle temps aren’t consistent, they keep spiking. It’ll go down to 40-ish, then spike up to 50, and will keep doing that.

that is good liiking but has pretty bad airflow so those temps with the stock cooler are pretty normal.

What about a new motherboard, shall I upgrade to a B450? I’m currently on an A320

why would you? that only allows overclocking which is not needed for 3600

I would strongly suggest moving these fans from the outside of the case rails to the inside. Shifting the fans back inside the case rails will allow your fans to leverage the side intakes of the case fans and be able to draw significantly more air than it's currently capable of doing. It only takes a few minutes, it can dramatically reduce temps, and best of all it's free.

I've never really built a pc before, so I just put my fans in the same place as the existing ones were. Thanks for your help, I'll try that.

Most companies selling RGB in their fans dont care about airflow as much as aesthetics, as that's what sells cases to the average consumer. So they'll put the LEDS as close to the front glass as possible for maximim effect, not caring about the usability of the system; especially for gaming.

I would expect about a 5-10ºC drop under load given your system build, possibly more.
