Trying to figure out what CPU this laptop has

I am trying to identify this Lenovo Gaming 3 15IMH05 laptop. It seems to have an Intel Core i7 with 8 cores and 16 threads, but it doesn't know which specific CPU it actually is. It runs at 2.1GHz. It's got 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. It also seems to have a dedicated GPU, but I don't know which specific one. The driver wasn't installed. The iGPU is the Intel UHD 630. Does anyone have any idea about it? Sorry for the bad picture - it's outside. 20210117_120200.thumb.jpg.86a3ed51b8aafe27fca342e71bdc72c2.jpg

Boot a LInux LiveCD like Knoppix or Mint, run the lshw tool in a terminal to see what it finds.

lshw | less

Run the above command (copy/paste) in the terminal, use the arrow keys to scroll up/down and press q to exit.

It looks like a engineering sample cpu because I see a redit thread saying that genuine intel cpu 0000 are generally i7s with unconfirmed clock speeds

I can't, I don't have access to the computer. Someone I know runs a computer business and asked me about it. He wants to sell it.

Where did you get the laptop because that might explain if you got it used

It isn't mine. It was bought in a lot of laptops from my understanding. He doesn't usually deal with machines this new.

Need to know full model number first. It shows only partial in that picture. The model number and other such details are printed at the bottom.

IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IMH05 is all I know, and it's in the picture. That is the model of the computer. There is no information on the bottom panel of the laptop.

The way laptop models work is that there's one base model and several configurations which each have their own model number. With this it says "81y4xxxxxx". If you would have the specific model number, you could just check full specs here for example https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/IdeaPad/IdeaPad_Gaming_3_15IMH05

Though those configurations don't match with clock speed shown in that picture, nor the "8 cores, 16 threads" remark. So I would say also that its engineering sample that might have some older CPU instead. Which means that using any online data is useless, booting to OS might be more helpful.

I know it should show a more detailed model number, but it doesn't. Windows was no help either, other than to determine the integrated GPU and the core/thread count. The bottom panel should have had a sticker with the specific details, but that was completely missing. Based on the other things I've found out about it I don't think it's a retail model at all. It definitely seems to be an engineering sample. If I had the money I would buy it from him. If he still has it when I next see him I will try running CPU-Z or Cinebench to get a better idea at what it may be.

Something that makes be believe even more that this machine is an engineering sample is that the serial number doesn't show up online. Lenovo's website simply says that there is no product associated with that serial number.

I am seriously giving thought to buying it if I can, if only for the fun of trying to figure out what it is supposed to be. I was outside when looking at it, and the display was still very bright from what I could tell. I don't know how color accurate it is (doesn't matter to me anyway as I'm partially colorblind), but it looked good. It also had a 120Hz refresh rate.
