though the 2nd slot, if from chipset, is probably already gen 3? B550 slots are gen 3 right?

Possibly.

@veerteex do you by chance have a drive in the bottom m.2 slot? If so, this disabled the bottom PCIE slot. This would be the m.2 slot directly under the bottom PCIE slot.

Hello together,

i just bought and installed the MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS Motherboard in my PC. With a Ryzen 9 3900x.  (btw i use arch )

As i like to use Gpu Passthrough I put the fist GPU (rx580) in the fist slot and my second GPU(rtx2070s) in the second. Both gpu's work fine in the fist slot but in the second neither of them works.

So I updated the bios in hope it will work after the update but it didn't .

So here's my question. Is the second PCIE slot broken? Or is it just disablet in the bios? I would like to know because then I could still replace it with a new one.

Does any one had the same issue ? Thank you very much for your replies.

sounds broken to me. Should be enabled/live from the get go and not require any trickery on the BIOS to get it to work. Only thing you could try is setting it to PCIE Gen 3 instead of auto to see if that helps.

I have the same problem, got my upgrade from 1650 to 3060 12gb and decided to keep both in, but I also have 2 m2 ssd , switched the cards around and works fine, I'm thinking of getting an pcie adapter for m2 ssd for the the small PCIE slot at the bottom
