1600 vs 2400G

Okay quick question i have a mini itx build that started with a 2400g but now has a 1660 in it and i have a R5 1600 at home doing nothing is it worth swaping it in instead of the 2400g i can not really decide pls help

Since you have a GPU now the 1600 will perform better than the 2400g.

generally the G series is only used if you dont have a GPU as they offer intergrated graphics. so I would recommend the 1600

If you have a GPU, 1600 for sure. 6 cores vs 4 cores.

2400g and 1600 are both the same generation: Zen

 

1600 has 6c/12t

2400g is 4c/8t. 1600 is better

not necessarily, some of the 1600's are 12nm zen+ instead of 14mm zen. which essentially makes it the same as r5\2600

you are talking about Ryzen 1600AF. that is not the normal ryzen 5 1600. That is the 12nm version. OP said that he will be gettings ryzen 1600, not 1600AF

Yeah I'm well aware of what I am talking about, and the "af" is not an official part of the name of the cpu. It's two letters in the middle of the full model number. The OP says they have a 1600, they could have the 1600 with 'ae' in the model number, or the one with 'af'. Which leads back to what I said in my post. just trying to add accurate information.

 

maybe you are confused about which post you replied to.. because the OP didn't say they 'will be getting' anything. he/she said they have a 1600 lying around.

Either way, the 1600, AF or AE, will be better

thanks for the advice guys btw I have the 14nm one so that would be AE
