is the ryzen 3600 stock cooler quiet?

madotsukig1rl

building a relatively budget pc after getting tired of dealing with my shit-tier pre-built. i don't mind dropping the money on a slightly nicer cooler, but just wondering if the stock cooler is quiet enough to not ramp up too hard at idle/light tasks. i don't really mind how loud it is during gaming (within reason).

also just to tack this on at the end, wondering if i should make any improvements to my current build. i don't really play many games outside of suuuper light stuff (rhythm games, minecraft, stardew, stuff like that) so specifically trying to not go too far on my gpu. thanks for any recs! (also i have a solid seasonic psu im transferring to this from my current pc. had to replace the old one and splurged on a nice modular unit.)

What do you classify as loud?

40-50db or so. i tend to use headphones anyway but i don't wanna hear this thing from another room or something like that.

Wraith Stealth is not LOUD. You probably wont be able to hear it without headphones on. Also you don't need thermal paste, the one it comes with is fine. But from my experience with stock coolers, each one is different. Mine was very quiet, and my friends was loud. Luck of the draw I guess.

It depends on your hearing, system airflow, and ambient temps. Try it out first and decide on whether or not to replace it later.

If it's an unused stock cooler, it'll come with decent paste already -- no need for the AS5.

Mine made an annoying whining sound. Switched to a NHU12S and it's much quieter, even under full load

hm, alright. just seems like some units are better than others. hoping for a peach, but ill probably stick a nicer cooler in my pcpp juuust in case.

Mine was ok, it was fairly quiet until it spooled up. It let my 3600XT boost. But I use 120x38 case fans, and I am moving a shitload of air. Even at 7v..
