I know this isn't a audiphile forum but I was hoping somebody could help me out with a turntable. I am looking for under $200 as an intro one. I dont have any speakers, amps or anything. It needs to play all three speeds......

Any help would be great!!

A Rega Planar 3 is one of the best in the entry level bracket and is generally a very convincing turntable. It's super stable and with a good pickup you will have absolutely no reason to upgrade it before you've got 5+ grand to spend on one of the high end offerings. On a good day you should be able to find a used one for a couple hundred bucks.

Do you need speakers and amps and such, or just the turntable?

what country, I probably start looking at denon, marantz etc, they have starting products around that price. or alternatively you can look in second habd shops or on ebay, just prepare to get a new stylus cartridge if you by second hand.

Used dollar sign, implying US.

He is going to be forced to buy all three items used.

we have dollars and the euro is a dollar too.  But I agree, getting  something decent for that price is going to be secondhand regardless of his currency.

actually buying used is probably the better way to go, with exception of maybe having to buy a new cartridge.  I am currently using an akai unit which I have had for about 15 years at least and I am quite happy with it.
