I just built my new pc recently, 5800x and a 3070, and every time I boot up Rust to play my computer just shuts down. I'll be on a server for around 5 minutes, and then my computer completely crashes. Can anyone help??

Have you checked to confirm that the motherboard has a BIOS version 100% compatible with a 5xxx series CPU?

Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

POST & booting to desktop doesn't really stress a CPU much, but gaming will... always worth checking.

That 'should be OK', but it may be worth checking for a slightly newer version if the 'board you have is a very early production unit.

Yes; but it'll be a one-way write if you update it for 5000-series.

HWINFO64 would be better to check thermals... afterburner is for GPU overclocking.

Once you update to 5000-series BIOS, you can't go back to an earlier (3000-series) version.

This won't be...it's been made a lot of over the release of the 5000-series CPU's, when AMD first said that 450/70 would NOT support 5000-series CPU's... then AMD back-tracked & said they'll support them... at a price (non-reversible BIOS update).

Might be an issue if you want to flip the board, later & someone tries to use a 3000-series CPU on it.
