WD SN750 1TB (2019) vs. Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB (2020)

I have a WD SN750 1TB NVMe SSD purchased in late 2019 and a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB purchased in late 2020. I compared the performance in my system using CrystalDiskMark and got these results:

WD:

Samsung:

Is this what you would expect to see? I'm surprised that the random performance on the Samsung 970 Evo Plus is worse than on the WD. Does that sound right to you?

If it helps, I have the WD as my boot drive (in the motherboard's M.2 slot) while the 2TB is in a "Hyper M.2 x4" card in the bottom PCI slot of an Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard.
